White & Red Sequin Mini Ornament

White & Red Sequin Mini Ornament
Hi all,

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and spent the day doing things you enjoy. We have had a busy one this year visiting and being visited.  We have also eaten way too much as is the traditional norm and are almost dreading the shock to the system when we get back into our fitness regime again when the gym re-opens.

I managed to fit in a bit of crafting on Christmas Day whilst watching tv before I went to bed and finished off this festive white and red ornament.  I made it on a 50mm polystyrene ball which is small enough to suit our smaller tree that we have this year.  Sometimes the simplest designs are amongst the most striking as is the case for this one which hits the spot for me.

Tools / Materials Used

  • 50mm Polystyrene ball
  • 13mm Silver sequin pins
  • 15/0 Translucent seed beads
  • 6mm White cup sequins
  • 6mm Red satin ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • 40mm Red pearl head pin

Step 1 - Using the Basic Sequin Technique apply white sequins to the polystyrene ball.  To get the finish in the picture start from the top of the ornament and work down in circles. Note - Remember to leave a tiny gap for the hanger pin.

Step 2 - Cut a length of ribbon for the hanger and pierce both ends to add it to the red pearl headed pin.

Step 3 - Create a small ribbon bow on the pearl head pin.  I previously have made a tutorial on how to do this here .

Step 4 - Dip the end of the pearl headed pin in glue and add to the top of the ornament.

What are you making at the moment?
